Trent Reznor, Peter Murphy, Jeordie White, and Atticus Ross perform Iggy Pop’s “Nightclubbing” live in Boston for a special radio broadcast.
“Nightclubbing” comes from an era when David Bowie and Iggy Pop worked very closely together. Pop wrote the song about hanging out with Bowie. Bowie used a drum machine on the track while fiddling around in the studio and wanted to replace it with real drums. Pop loved the drum machine sound and insisted that it remain.
The kick drum from the track was later featured prominently in Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer”.
