This Northern Flicker has stolen my heart… I was bad about bringing my camera in for a while so I missed out on getting good baby pictures of him; he’s been in my care for a few weeks, came in still with his pinfeathers and now he has turned into a big handsome bird. I named him Sherlock :]
Sherlock was brought to us after being attacked by a cat, and after treating his injuries and preventing infection he is making a great recovery. Remember to monitor your outdoor cats during this time of year since baby birds are out and about. Even if your cat does not seriously injure the bird, cat saliva carries a lot of bacteria that can cause a deadly infection in even a small wound so you have to be very careful.
and where’s his companion, watson?
